Sylsalis Vendana

Sylsalis, along with many other Merr children, were born within the Elyrian seas of Ryne. The most anyone knows about the Vendana clutch is that about fifteen to twenty were born from it. From birth, Sylsalis mostly had to learn to hold her own and fend for herself within a group of her brothers and sisters that had survived the hatching process -- or even simply the developing process. Of the group that Sylsalis had been born, she survived along with three of her sisters, and five of her brothers.

Growing up, Sylsalis watched as some of her siblings had gone off to do their own things once things had gotten too heated between them. Being the eldest of the clutch, Sylsalis had been the one to watch over her younger siblings after their parents had decided that they were too old to keep providing for the children and knew they were old enough to fend for themselves.

Of Sylsalis' siblings that stuck around, they were only Dyciel, Sylvia, Kyuuran, Gedoran, and Kellvella. Several more years down the line, and it seemed that Sylsalis have grown bored with her life in the seas. She was more interested in what was up at the surface. Of course, the scriptures that were written on Merr tablets did not help to fuel her curiosity as she read countless stories on the many things that happened up on the lands where the surface dwellers resided. From there, Sysalis became infatuated with the idea to become one of those that resided topside as well.

Before long, Sylsalis had started to traverse the seas, wondering where exactly she could find someone that could provide her with magical means to live where she wanted. The trek did not take long, fortunately enough for her. Outside of Tartarus, there had been an underwater civilisation that was more comprised of topsiders that turned into magically enhanced 'Merr' to an extent. There were stories that Sylsalis remembered about these folk as well... how many Merr rejected them and found them to be heathenish abominations. That aside, Sylsalis had been enthralled to find someone that managed to reverse engineer a way to turn a transfiguration charm into a way that gave Sylsalis legs.

Upon gaining her legs and crawling onto the shores of Symphia, Sylsalis was found by a Myrian (High Elf) man who quickly covered her for modesty's sake and questioned for her appearance on the shores. When Sylsalis had explained to him in Common her desires for wanting to live her life on land, the Myrian man had sighed and offered her a place to stay temporarily since he did not often use his home due to being out on duty. From there, a friendship was born between Sylsalis and the Myrian man who had introduced himself as Trépas Bastille, one of the Majors for the Symphian army. Because of Trépas' lifestyle and him disappearing into the army often, it made Sylsalis consider enlisting as well so that she could learn the customs of surface dwellers and what it was like living among them.

When she had enlisted, Sylsalis often took her training well, as life at sea had definitely heightened her endurance and strength more than most others that had been a little green in terms of what was dished out at them. The only detriment that Sylsalis quickly learned of being on land was the fact that she dried out a lot quicker than she was used to. The first incident was when Sylsalis had fallen faint doing an obstacle course, and her complexion left her looking like a salted fish. Thanks to the melting pot state that Symphia was, Sylsalis had been accommodated, and her funds had gone into buying her gear that would assist her during training and keep her hydrated -- however, this also set her back a bit after she had to be taken into care.

Sylsalis was given the offer to walk away from being in the Symphian army, though she refused to take it. During her healing process, Sylsalis had engaged in exercises that she could do within Trépas' home. These exercises consisted of push ups, crunches, jumping jacks, and a few other various means to stretch and regulate her breathing. Funnily enough, when Sylsalis had returned to her basic training regimen, she had been approached by someone who bore similar features to her and introduced himself Captain Fleri Volidis -- another Merr that had abandoned his life at sea to be a land-dweller. While it seemed that the meeting was a good one, Sylsalis had thanked him for his time and concern when he made mention that her situation was like his when he first joined the army without knowing the limitations of his transfiguration.
